Budapest - Pearl of the Danube

The city capital of Hungry, Budapest used to be two cities that were divided by the Danube River, Buda and Pest, those two large towns became a single city - Budapest in 1873.

It is currently one of Europe's most important capital cities. Enormous iron bridges join both banks, Buda, the formal Royal district with Pest, the commercial and financial heart of the city.

With history that dates all the way back to prehistoric times Budapest is now the home of about one-fifth of the Hungarian population.
